How will this affect SU and Grambling?

I won't feel sorry or pity for GSU nor SU Football....

I have told you all time and time and time and time and time what the both of you need to do Football-wise to get yourself right. But for some reason, you all think playing a football game in New Orleans, LA is better than playing a Football Game on each other's campuses as HBCUs.

Would it packed? Yes, it would be. Get your butt in your RVs and/or vehicles Bright and Early or the day before the game to get on campus early to get your spot. You take pride in your campus and stadiums being packed (not to mention your playing your longtime rival).

But, my hands are washed and I only pray the Lord guides the Blind to the Light before it's too late.

And it's easier talking about other STATE PROBLEMS WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE ANY,, LIKE I SAID SU HAS face trouble like this before... under Dr.Dolores Spikes. To be honest SU will be a better University after the dust settles. ..

And what a lot of people fail to realize is that behind LSU, Southern University has a lot political clot..

And the new governor is keeping SU in the loop of what is going on trust me,,

TOPS HAS been a drain on LOUSIANA the past 10 years, and the cost had DOUBLE EVERY YEAR,

WHAT the new governor is doing should be commended.. because it's brings a broken system that should of been fixed ALONG TIME AGO..

FOREMOST TOPS STANDARDS SHOULD BE raise IT has already been said that if they raise the standards like what SC has in the LIFE scholarship or the Hope scholarship I think in GA, the cost of TOPS WOULD DECREASE BY 70%.., THE other half would not give TOPS money to student athletes, etc,,, the other half would go to more NEED BASE scholarship,, which would help SU AND GSU, and not LSU, I guess u see where I am going with this,, i think the budget crisis might be a blessing, because now you cannot over look a problem, that should of been fixed many years ago

We can talk about this issue until we are blue in the face.... until the state of Louisiana ratifies the Louisiana Constitution this problem will be a Occuring problem for many years to come...

EDUCATION AND HEALTH CARE ARE ALWAYS THE FIRST THING ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK..

And that is so wrong. What I can't understand is why nobody brings their ass to task about the lottery money.

IMO, Governor Edwards is starting off on the right foot. He knows LSU football is one the most precious toys folks in Louisiana have. Just like if someone wants to get some bad azz little kid to understand right from wrong, sometimes the only way to get them to understand the different is by threatening to takeaway their most precious toys. Louisiana or any state for that matter can't continue to have multi-million dollars football programs while others are suffering in the same state.

BH123 still hasn't realized that this is not about SU and GSU playing each other on campus. This is about if their athletes will be eligible for the fall of next year because the state colleges and universities had to abruptly shutdown due to budget crisis. He doesn't realize that they won't be playing at all (in the Super Dome or on-campus) if that happens. I guess his brain is stuck on SU playing Howard in DC. LOL!!!

playing each other on campus will make the problem worse, each school will forfeit a annual million dollar payout for a 500k-700k bi-annual payout. Over a 2 year period, Grambling and SU will miss between 1.5 - 1.3 Million dollars. If Grambling and SU has to close down the football programs for the 2016 season, it will greatly impact every school in the SWAC.

Good thing he announced this Earth shattering news this week and not National Letter of Intent Signing week right?

Potential recruits would have possibly signed elsewhere.

Man you know he knew exactly what he was doing. Just like the coach for morgan state waited until after everybody had signed

The only scary thing about this, there are a lot of crazy Republican legislators who won't vote for any measures to generate more revenue for the state, but I'm sure Governor Edwards is generating a list of those crazy mofos in case he has to politically expose them.

What bothers me is that number actually went up in the past two years

Our revenue did go up, but our percent subsidy has gone down from the previous two years. 2011, 2012, and 2013 are the only years SU's percent subsidy were slightly more than 50%. In 2010, our percent subsidy was only 42.81%. It's good to know SU dependency on subsidized funds are better than most FCS schools. The State of Virginia has made a move to limit the amount of subsidy for athlete programs, which hurts Norfolk State abilities to generate revenue for its athletic programs. It seems like the State of North Carolina are coming up with ways to decrease the amount of monies its HBCUs would be able to generate, which would probably indirectly deduct from the revenue stream of its HBCU's athletic programs. This is why we need to think of more creative ways (i.e. Celebration Bowl) to generate revenue other than using Student Fees and School Funds.

So.............moving our game to September was going to somehow stop the state from going into a $1 billion deficit?????????

Tops is not a drain on Louisiana, this is dedicated revenue from the casinos. Over the past 8yrs Jindal made dramatic cuts to higher education which led to a significant increase in college tuition fees and therefore forced the State to spend more Tops funds per student.

I don't think Jindal cared about the math of how things actually balanced. IMO, Jindal was more concerned about his conservative political agenda and running for president. Jindal had a one track mind with no sense of knowing how things really worked.

I disagree, TOPS is a drain on the State,, i am not for a system the has basically balloon over 10 years, when you have students, the receive FULL academic or sports scholarships and turn around and get TOPS THAT IS A PROBLEM, ,, the advocate did an article, and said most LSU students are spending TOPS MONEY ON LIVING IN THE NICE STUDENT APTS OFF CAMPUS, TO be fair it's not just LSU,, IF TOPS HAD HARDER STANDARDS IN PLACE, AND MORE REQUIREMENTS on who receives it THE COST WOULD GO DOWN tremendously but if you are letting a broken system continue the cost will continue to go up. WHICH LOUSIANA CANNOT AFFORD

Nicely in what way? You wasn't losing big money playing in Jackson either. The only issue was the middle man yall didn't like. Secondly Alcorn and JSU would have had Jindal as Gov in MS. Where you played that game wouldn't have helped one iota. That Alcorn vs JSU game don't fund your entire athletic department with its largest revenue. One could say, the Alcorn game is not even the biggest game on JSU's schedule when it is played in Jackson. I would imagine their homecoming still tops that game.
In some sense, BH is right. The mom and pops businesses would get a huge payday, as well as the Baton Rouge/Grambling/Ruston/Monroe communities.

@Kenn Rashad I will pay you $20 to put BH on posting limits

Better yet, implement a dislike button. 20 dislikes in a 24 hour span removes posting privileges for the next 24 hours LOL
Man, yall quit cyber-bullying BH. He has some good points. Yall just bullying the man.
What's wrong with putting 2 million dollars back into the BR/Grambling/Scotlandville/Monroe/Ruston economies?

Dude, you Louisiana folks continue to face drama after drama. Now that Jindal's gone, you STILL got major problems involving huge budget cuts.
Heck, I thought Mississippi had major budget problems, but the way some of yall are talking, Louisiana has more problems.

Yall should've kept LeFleur since during his tenure, the athletic budget was higher then than it is now.

SMHHHHH,
SU is home next year,,, LSU STADIUM IS OUT THE QUESTION, , SO CAN ANYONE TELL THESE FOOLS ,, LET'S SAY THE BC COMES TO SU, AND 65,000 comes where on GOD GREEN EARTH IS 65,000 GOING TO FIT IN MUMFORD. . JUST PLEASE STOP POSTING ... ONE FOOTBALL GAME WILL NOT SETTLE BUDGET ISSUES IN LOUSIANA, ,, AND BTW SU AND GSU STILL MAKES MORE FROM THE GAME BEING IN THE SUPERDOME, THEN JSU OR ALCORN MAKES HOME TO HOME, SO YOUR POINT IS INVALID

What does JSU and Alcorn have to do with this? Nothing. Just because someone from said schools makes a comment on a specific subject, what does that have to do with the school they attended? Nothing.

And besides, I said the communities benefit.....and that IS a fact. Those communities would benefit tremendously during that weekend, but instead, New Orleans benefits.
