Alicea Leads ASU to Shutout over Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Angel Alicea (2-0) made his first collegiate start a memorable one in leading Alabama State to a 3-0 win over Southeastern Conference (SEC) member Tennessee.

The junior pitched seven innings of shutout baseball only allowing six hits. Alicea only walked one batter while striking out seven.

Only once was Alicea in any trouble and that was the opening inning. The Vols were able to load the bases with one out on a hit, walk and hit batsman, but Alicea would pitch out of that trouble by enticing an infield popup and a strikeout to end the threat. The Vols never really threatened again until the ninth inning.

The Hornets are rolling now. They better watch out because some big school might come in and scoop him up at season's end. He has to win the SWAC tourney

Hopefully Bama State can win the SWAC tournament and make some noise in the Post season. They are by far the best team in the SWAC.
HUH??!! Bama State might be playing the best ball right now, but one would think a JSU-er would want JSU to win the tournament first and foremost. Just saying, but one's entitled to his own opinion.
