For Indi Johnson, this is starting over. For the Southern women's basketball program, this may be the start of something big.
Johnson, a 6-foot-2 forward who went to national power Purdue as a freshman but has been out of basketball for one-and-a-half seasons, signed with Southern on Wednesday.

"Wow. To be able to sign a kid of her caliber is incredible," SU coach Sandy Pugh said. "We'll probably be pinching ourselves (Wednesday night."

If she played for Narbonne High and has accolades like this then this could be a HUGE pick up for SU.... Narbonne is a very prestige program in high school girls basketball... they are usually ranked high while playing a national schedule. She picked SU over some REAL GOOD schools... Great pick up SU.

u put her with that girl SU got that was destroying Alcorn by herself in the championship game and the rest of the SWAC can hang it up

Not to mention our 6-4 center Fredrieka Lewis. :flippy: :flippy:

now with this young lady coming to SU..

shid with Fred Lewis coming back

then we got the 6-2 Jones girl from Mobile
that 6-foot forward for Sterling in houston
and a 5-11 forward from Coach Pugh's old high school ( I seen Bush play in Hammond, she's real)

this will be the biggest SU squad we'll ever had...

it's gonna be very, very interesting times on the yard these next 3-4 years..

and yes SUJagTillIDie...I want Coach Pugh coaching the men's team too... lol :licky:

**waiting on TBF to come in and criticize this latest SU recruit***

Another JUCO All-American on campus today.... Expect another signee.... OK Im almost to the point that we need this staff recruiting for both M & W.... :flamethro

The Southern University women's basketball program finished a banner signing class Monday by getting a national letter of intent from two-time Division II All-American guard Delores Hughley.
Hughley, from Mott Community College in Flint, Mich., visited Southern over the weekend and got a vote of confidence from guard Rolanda Monroe, the Southwestern Athletic Conference Player of the Year who will be a senior next season.

With Hughley seemingly firing away from deeper and deeper during a pick-up game, that led Monroe to call coach Sandy Pugh

Swac Yall in trouble :jump: :jump:

This class is dynamite. Coach Pugh needs to add a few non-conference games and win them. In return, we should be able to get a better seeding for the NCAA tourney. We cannot depend on the status quo of playing less than competitive ball clubs (out of conference) to get us where we need to be.

Big props to coach Pugh for being really aggresive with the recruiting. She definitely ain't trying to be status quo by only being competitive in the SWAC.
