Big 12 now says it will immediately consider expansion candidates

That will never happen. Texas A&M is soaring to new heights financially while not being in UT's shadow. No way the SEC let's them get away either. Missouri on the other hand..........
I believe you. I would like for Texas-Texas A&M to get their football rivarly back rolling.

I'll be holding a vigil tonight for anyone who wants to attend the #Saynotocougarhigh

Bring your own candles.

You just listed SIX reasons they will get a NO vote... lol

They will concede to U of H. If Texas A&M was still in the Big 12. Both would vote No. But with no Aggie help, I think Texas will get out voted on this one.

Missouri is doing fine. They aint going no where.

That would be great, but i doubt if it would ever happen. jerry world would love to host that game.

I could see Colorado coming back to the conference.

Poor Colorado. I don't know if anyone really wants them. LOL. I think they will stay in the Pac 12 though. During their hey day they recruited the West Coast well. And they are not far from those schools.

Either one of them would take a pay cut going back to the big 12... would make absolutely no sense...especially for Nebraska.

I think Nebraska feels like they made a BIG mistake going to the BIG Ten as they have not really fit in. Plus they lost their AAU membership that all BIG schools have. I would not be shocked if the BIG Ten wants them out. LOL. They didn't come in and run nothing in any of the sports really. Missouri would have been a better fit for the conference. But you are right, the money is bigger in the BIG. So they would lose that.

Poor Nebraska. lol

Missouri's only problem is that the SEC put them in the East because they wanted to protect Alabama's biggest games. Oh and their athletic department is kind of a dumpster fire right now. Football coach resigned after a horrible season and was replaced with a less than exciting hire, the starting QB has a serious drug problem, the basketball program is in the dumps with NCAA sanctions, and the softball coach is being investigated for verbally abusing players.

For those that thought this would never happen - UT and TT gave their support to Houston joining the conference.

Yup, the president of UT's System and UT-Austin both said they would love to bring UH into the conference

Did is a sad day for me.

Texas politics,...once the governor and lieutenant governor opened their mouths at the urging of billionaire Tillman Fertita whom happens to be the chairman of UH board, and also one of the governor's mega-donors the dominoes began to fall.

Gov. Greg Abbott posted on Twitter that "Big 12 expansion is a non-starter unless it includes (the) University of Houston."

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick also jumped on the UH bandwagon: "I join with (Abbott) any Big 12 expansion must include @UHouston or NO DEAL!"

The UT system chancellor and school president each issued statements in support of UH joining the Big 12.

The Big 12 might collapse in a few years, but for now it would be a great landing spot for a school like UH.

This was such a positive turn that UH officials weren't even upset they didn't get Ted Cruz's endorsement.

Perhaps UH megabooster Tilman Fertitta's quarter of a million-dollar donation to Abbott's last gubernatorial campaign is paying off.

LAWDAWG is 110% correct.

UH better be thanking God Tilman Fertita (Founder of Landry's Inc.: The Golden Nugget Hotel and Casinos, Morton’s The Steakhouse, Rainforest Cafe, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.,McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood & Steaks, Saltgrass Steak House, Claim Jumper, Chart House, The Oceanaire, Mastro’s Restaurants, Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse and many others.) is on their board.

By the way, his cousins Lorenzo and Frank Fertita are former owners of UFC.

That's where that Fertita name is familiar to me. Yeah, Tillman (and now his cousins) are beyond loaded.

Tilman Fertitta is expected to donate $20 million to the University of Houston to rebuild the school's basketball arena (Hoffienz Pavillion) and put his name on it.

wasn't there a little brush-up with that because of the Hoffienz family or somebody?

Yeah the family was upset at the plan to remove Hofheinz name from the building since he was the one who contributed the money to get it finished when initial funding didn't fully come through. They compromised and now the street will be named after him instead.

I thought that's how it went. I knew Fred and AJ were talking about that on The Blitz

http://www.espn.com/college-footbal.../where-do-things-stand-big-12-expansion-talks

Two weeks ago in the Dallas area, the Big 12 held meetings with the 11 candidates that made the conference's first round of cuts, multiple sources confirmed to ESPN.com. Those meetings began with SMU on Tuesday and ended with South Florida on Friday evening; Air Force, BYU, Central Florida, Cincinnati, Colorado State, Connecticut, Houston, Rice and Tulane had their turns in between.

Each session, with commissioner Bob Bowlsby and a small group of Big 12 officials, lasted roughly two hours, and the expansion candidates were limited to bringing up to five representatives, who also had to be employed by the schools in some capacity. The majority brought their president, athletic director, board chair and general counsel, though USF, for example, was able to include Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik, who is a faculty member of the USF Muma College of Business.

Might as well bring in South Florida, Central Florida, Houston and Cincinnati ...

USF and UCF become natural rivals and gives the Big 12 direct access into Tampa and Orlando TV markets, and further reach into Jacksonville and Miami-Ft. Lauderdale TV markets.
Houston is a natural fit with the rest of their former Southwest Conference rivals
Cincinnati gives the Big 12 direct access into the Cincy TV market with some reach into other Midwest markets, plus gives West Virginia a natural rival in conference play.

USF and UCF?

I guess im too old school to understand these cross country conferences.... BYU should be automatic.... followed by Houston and Cincy... the rest should be pulled from Colorado State, Air Force and Tulane.

po UConn.... lol

The ACC is the only real fit for them.

how Rice made the cut still amazes me....but I told folks they are the dark horse as they bring in Houston still but they're an easier win and will never threaten the league outside of having a seasoned team every 4 years...not a threat for the Iowa States, Oklahoma State's etc.

The Iowa State's Oklahoma State's don't want UH cause they recruit the same player now and normally that's their lone Big 12 offer recruiting time so they'll beat UH most of the time. I watched ISU last week get killed by TCU and most of their athletes were Texas kids anyway who were bubble Big 12 players
