Students who wish to pursue a dance major now will be able to earn the Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance at ASU, one of only two public university in the state to offer the degree.
In recent years, the art of dance has seen a tremendous expansion in popular culture.
Now, Alabama State University will provide an opportunity for students to pursue a degree in this exciting fine arts field.
The University will offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in dance beginning in fall 2013.
The new degree program, which recently was authorized by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education, is one of only two of its kind to be offered by a public college or university in the state.
Unlike a Bachelor of Arts degree, which involves a broad liberal arts curriculum, the BFA is a professional degree program which places a more intensive focus on the study of fine arts.
